Silhouette Magazine presents Ray@100 Lecture Series Episode 5
Satyajit Ray’s Aranyer Din Ratri marks 50 years of its release in 2020. A film that treads multiple layers, it is an important bridge between Ray’s ‘classical’ films with the more ‘topical’ ones. Ray used circles and circularity to explore the characters, expand the plot and to underline the differences between a ‘rural’ India and its ‘urban’ counterpart.
Silhouette editor Amitava Nag, in this short video lecture, looks at these aspects of circles and circularity.
