The movie in a typical YRF fashion grapples with unique romance triangle. Karan (Rishi Kapoor) likes and woos Timsi (Neetu Singh) and they get married. After marriage he wants to stand in his own feet without using his rich father’s support and his wife helps him to get a loan.
Timsi is a housewife and though she is kiddish and a little feather-brained, she isn’t someone who can be treated as a door mat. She gets suspicious when Karan starts spending more and more time with his colleague, the ace ad visualizer Nisha (Raakhee Gulzar), whom he has hired for his newly launched company after much persuasion.
Nisha sees the resemblance of her ex-fiance Shashi Sehgal (Shashi Kapoor in cameo) in Karan and gets close to him without knowing that he is married. Her friend and well-wisher Parikshit Sahni, who silently loves her too, warns her of the consequences of a relationship with a married man.
Nisha realizes her mistake and to get a grip on her life, she deliberately avoids Karan to create a distance between them which Karan is not able to endure. He is not aware that Nisha’s intimacy with him is purely on account of his resemblance with Shashi. Caught in this dilemma and on the verge of losing his wife, Karan loses his peace of mind. To make amends, Nisha brings the Karan and Timsi together and clears their misunderstanding.
Doosra Aadmi is a simple film that explores love in its various facets – love before marriage and after marriage, the desperate attempt to cling on to the memories of love, the growing attraction between a younger man and an older woman especially when the temperaments match and the love of the silent kind.
An adorable casting, a tight script interspersed with some memorable songs make this movie worth a watch. The song Kya mausam hai is delightful composition where Lata Mangeshkar, Rafi and Kishore Kumar make you feel the joy of being alive and free.
