One moment, we are inches apart
The next, you find me galloping high
You yell in dismay, your voice crumbles
You’re so sure this is the last good bye
How do I explain, my whim to depart
After a deep, deep night of maddening mush
If I were you, and you the flier
I know this would have hurt as much
You’re a phenomenon. A rare occurrence
is all I can say in my meek defense
Rare as the half read favorite fiction-
One that yellows beside my window
So precious I dread reaching the end
Eventually though, I will. I know.
