Raj Kapoor, the Show-Man of Bollywood, is known as a popular film actor, producer and director of Hindi Cinema. Time Magazine ranks his performance in Awaara, released in 1951, as one of the top ten all time greatest performances.
Though Raj Kapoor debuted in India cinema at the age of 11 with Inquilab (released in 1935), he got his first big break in Neel Kamal (1947), opposite Madhubala. In 1948, he became the youngest director of his time when he launched his own studio, R. K. Films with his directorial debut film Aag starring himself Nargis, Kamini Kaushal and Premnath.
Under his banner, R. K. Studio, he produced, directed, and starred many successful films including Barsaat (1949), Awaara (1951), Shree 420 (1955), Jagte Raho (1956), Chori Chori (1956), and Jis Desh Men Ganga Behti Hai (1960).

Raj Kapoor has 2 National Film Awards, 9 Filmfare Awards and 19 nominations to his credit. Awaara (1951) and Boot Polish (1954) got nominated for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
