Following the death of Guru Dutt, Geeta Dutt suffered a nervous breakdown. When she recovered, she found herself in a financial mess. Realising she was the sole bread winner for the family of four, she tried to resume singing again, cutting discs at Durga Puja and giving stage shows , even doing a Bengali film, ‘Badhu Baran’ (1967) as heroine.
